Look Back to Go Forward

Ms. Jennifer Pixie Glitter Water had a birthday!

Which means I got to hang with her two weekends in a row. Yay-ness.

Did I mention the party was seventies-themed?

That explains the funky hair-dos. (Jen's friends from back home were super sweet.)

But it doesn't really explain the Smirnoff Ice.

Or the Erykah Badu CD.

But, I guess some things are best left unexplained.

A bunch of cute presents were opened.
For a cross reference, go here.

*Somebody* gave Jen this crocheted birthday cupcake face who she named Fran.

There was a psychedelic cake. I failed as a photographer because I didn't get any blowing-out-the-candle pics, which are my favorite.

Ashley was there too. New friend crush alert!

Good timers.

Do I say "Good timers" too much? Sorry, sometimes it's just the perfect thing to say. I mean, this picture could be captioned "Good Timer" too.

So could this one! Or maybe "Cute Timer." Or "Happy Birthday Timer."

No, that wouldn't make any sense.

Men Seldom Make Passes

On a Saturday:

There was this 50's party that I dropped in on.

Thrown by Liz, who I met with Minh one summer night.

Guess what? She and all of her friends turned 50 this year, hence the theme party. I know...I didn't believe it at first either.

But snacks like this made me think it must be the real deal. This whole party reminded me of the movie Mermaids by the way.

Per usual, I was too shy to take pictures of people I didn't know, thus it ends up looking like there were only two people there. But there were others, appropriately theme-y.

Minnie won best dressed, of course! (Really, she won a prize.)

Liz took pity on me because I had no 50's clothes, so she lent me a pair of glasses.

After a while, it was time to skedaddle to Jen's for a little R&R before the Info show. Hadn't seen her in 4-evs.

At Great Scott's it was time to share the love.

Professor Mathew Stacks, I presume.

Who else might want to wear these here glasses?

Look, they even made it onstage! Famous. But Max wasn't havin' any of it.

Dude just wanted to rock it.

I can't decide if our unanimous decision to have THE BEST TIME EVER makes us old timers, or just good timers. I've never seen these two happy at a show before.

Ashley took the glasses challenge on the street.

I still have them in my purse, just in case.

We've All Got Problems

It was the birthday of someone fab-u-lous on Thursday!

Fabulously footloose and fancy-free.

Which means we were all in rare form...

There was dancing, dahhhling.

And just general good timey-ness. At the Cooch.

Then some weird shit started to go down, involving my scarf.

And people wearing it.

It's hard to explain, but the circumstances point to a neck problem conspiracy.

Proof! Just a normal neck after all. (Not that there's anything wrong with un-normal necks.)

See, we've all got (neck) problems.

Or are about to.

My goodness! And the evening started out so civilized.

Happy Birthday Hilwa-wa-wa-wahooo!
